Former Glory Classics have an interesting selection of classic cars for hire from our base in West Sussex for one day hire to a full week or even longer.
They are all available for self drive or chauffeur driven hire, are fully comprehensively insured and have the benefit of RAC Breakdown cover included – not that anyone has had to use it!
It’s simple to hire a car – give us a call or fill in the Contact Us form on the website, book the date, duration and, of course, the car you would like to drive and we do the rest.
You arrive to find your car polished, checked over, insured and ready for a great fun day. So often our cars are hired as a surprise but don’t worry we’re used to that and can even deliver the car as part of the package.
Make a note of our website www.formergloryclassics.co.uk in your diary – when Father’s Day comes around, or the family is looking to surprise a relative for a special Anniversary Surprise surprise we’ll deliver the goods for sure.
Every time I drive our 1964 Ford Mustang I am in somebody’s photograph – it is the most eyecatching classic I have ever owned – and I’ve owned many. Our Mustang is the sought after fastback model and one of the very first off the production line in 1964 when it became Ford’s fastest selling car of all time. It’s fitted with the ‘small block’ V8, still a giant 4.7 litres to us Brits and drives through a 3 speed automatic gearbox and with its power steering it really is the ultimate boulevard cruiser. Fire up the V8, listen to the sound from the twin exhausts, select Drive and cruise away… Route 66 here we come….
Our Triumph TR6 defines the true British sportscar, its wickedly retro 70s magenta paintwork takes you back to the decade of ABBA, Top of the Pops, Blue Nun wine and British Leyland. Putting the hood down takes just minutes, turn the key, listen to that awesome yet powerful 6 cylinder fuel injected engine and hunker down for a blast through the Sussex countryside. But you don’t have to drive fast to enjoy these cars – you immediately become part of them – something you can’t say about a modern car.
Our MkII ‘ Inspector Morse Mk2 Jaguar.can take you hundreds of miles in the serene comfort and style that only classic Jaguars can. Few fail to be impressed by that first smell of leather and varnished woodwork when they climb in and neither are they disappointed with its performance. It has the 3.8 litre engine, manual gearbox with overdrive and chrome wire wheels. And does it perform! But then it is just about exactly the same as an E Type Jaguar engine – remember these were the robber’s getaway car of choice in the 60s.
The Jaguar is fast becoming a popular choice for wedding hire too. Classy and classic - what better way for the bride to arrive on her big day? And it is not unheard of for the bestman to hire the Mustang to ensure the groom gets to the church on time with that extra bit of vava-vroom. And how many convertible cars can you seat 4 in comfortably?
Our Triumph Stag is the perfect car for a comfortable drive with its superb V8 exhaust note burbling in your ears as you pass through the countryside, hood down, radio on… a most effortless experience with power steering and electric windows – Mercedes SL drivers eat your heart out. Why not keep an eye on our website?
We’re always looking for new and interesting cars to purchase to join the fleet. Remember MASH? Don’t be surprised to see a WWII Jeep arriving soon!
